What is stress?

Stress is a normal reaction the body has when changes occur, resulting in physical, emotional, and intellectual responses. Stress management is crucial to live a much healthier life. 

Why is managing stress so important?

One-third of Americans are living with extreme stress, and nearly half of Americans believe that their stress has increased over the past five years. This is crucial because stress plays such a big role in everyday lives. It affects the way you think, sleep, eat and overall function. Having too much negative stress can lead to long-term health consequences. 

This makes it very important to manage your stress well to avoid these effects. A few ways to help guide you are to find activities that keep your mind at peace. These can be things like:

  • Relaxation activities such as Yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises

  • Daily physical activity

  • Understanding when things are out of your control

  • Accepting everything will not always be perfect

  • Listening to music
